WALL-E could have just as easily been EVE, about the fembot who meets a
quirky bot and learns to change her directives, but no.
KUNG FU PANDA could have been about a female panda, but no, in fact, out of
10 major speaking roles, only one was female.
RATATOUIE, could have been about a female rat.
CARS, male lead.
SHREK, male lead.
ANTZ, male lead.
OVER THE HEDGE, OPEN SEASON, FINDING NEMO, TOY STORY, A BUG'S LIFE, BEE
MOVIE, MADAGASCAR, etc. the lead character is male, if not the lead two
buddy characters are male.
The closest one comes to a female lead major release cgi movie is THE
INCREDIBLES, four years ago, and she was the co-lead, the wife of lead,
altho technically, it was male lead (the group is named after the male
lead). For a flat out clearly female lead cgi major movie, you gotta go back
to 2001's FINAL FANTASY.
You'd think there'd be a backlog of actresses available considering the
dearth of roles for actresses over 30, even more so over 40, and yet . . . .
What's up with that?
