The embargo is up: After premiereing on Cartoon Network Europe years
ago, Biker Mice from Mars 2006 is airing on
4Kids.tv at 830 AM Eastern
Time. (2nd time slot in the lineup, after reruns of the suprisingly
tolerable Digata Defenders.)
I caught Saturday's airing of Episode 2 (of a 2-part premiere).
Details later. For now:
Voices for the Mice are the same. Rob Paulsen, Ian Zeiring, and
Dorain Harewood return without missing a beat. Not sure of Charlie/
Charlotte has a new voice. Clancy Brown is PERFECT as a gruff
antagonist (the loss of Morgan Sheppard as Limburger is tempered, as a
result) Luke Perry plays an annoying Francophone feline.
Animation from Phillippine Animation Studios is a DEVOLUTION from
their work on the original show. The new character designs are less
detailed, lankier and mushier. The animation is too rubbery, when it
isn't simply sloppy. It's as though the show had a lower budget and a
less capable crop of animators.
Tom Tataranowicz returns to direct, and has a writing credit, as
well. (I beleive he contributed to the pilot of the original series).
the credits included a complete writers. Nearly all are familiar, and
some have written for the original BMFM:
Rick Ungar
Matt Wayne
Jeremy Anderson
John McCann
Glen Leopold
Rich Aarons
Christy Marx
Randy Littlejohn
Steve Daranette(?)
Sean Roche
Steve Cuden
Tom Sito
Tom Tataranowicz
No Bob Forward, though, which is a shame. Maybe he's retiring with
Beast Wars money :-)
Terrence Briggs, hoping Gotham Knight will make up for the drab,
incoherent Dark Knight. Don't get me started...
Peace to you...
