Animating TOMMY

Some time ago, in a thread that touched on the subject of TOMMY
(alt.music.who), mention was made of an *animated* version of TOMMY.

I can't remember if the comment was one of those "Tommy On Ice" witticisms
said in jest, or it was a serious comment about a film project of which the
poster was aware.

Does anyone have knowledge of such a film project?

I can see this happening if it is not marketed as the *family-friendly*
product that the Broadway TOMMY became...I would stick with the original
concept, using the original recording or re-recording the music with very
limited musical/instrument additions to the arrangement.

I would not restrict the animation to one particular style...not CGI, not
stop-motion, not cel, but a combination of all styles in service to the
music and story. As YELLOW SUBMARINE showed before, *Animation* can be
innovative. The recent MIRRORMASK is a good example of film animation I
found interesting. I would also throw in some Brothers Quay attitude.

...it could happen!

I got this reply at alt.music.who from fraz...
