Film critic Matt Ulich put up a ghastly animated image to illustrate
the point :)

Okay, so Ferngully wasn't... loved. I'm a total Kevin Smith about
this sort of thing, though. You pays your money, your pays your
dues. Watch the whole thing. Those of y'all who sneak into theaters
need not apply.

Terrence Briggs, who's actually gonna sit through Pinocchio 3000.
Hey, it was a free rental.
Peace to you...

In college, I lectured a class once on animation. Since Bakshi's Lord of
the Rings was showing at the campus theater, the class adjourned there
to see some of what I'd been talking about. After fifteen or twenty
minutes of putting up with it, I judged I could slip out quietly and let
the rest of them watch if they wanted. When I got to the exit, somebody
said something and I turned to see that the whole class had followed me
out. They'd been watching me to see when it was okay to leave.

I'm not sure I've walked out of anything I paid to see, though. Some
difference there.

The animation/dialogue in the Felix movie is pretty up there with
Deitch's contribution. Of course I kinda blame the Oriolo Family for
thinking they can cash in on digging up their dad's cartoon adaptation
just to introduce a new generation to Felix, Professor and Poindexter
and some pretty freaky world they encounter.
