Hi

I run a 200L freshwater Tank for almost 2 years now. 3 Months ago, my
tank developed a bad algae problem... Last month I've put in 3 snails to
solve it.

Now the algae seems to be under control, but I have to remove 20 to 30
Snails a week.

How can I get rid of both?

Thanks, Harry

  aggresive gold fish

I have a 10 gal tank and 4 fan tails and one regular gold fish in it and the
regular gold fish kept biting on my whitish gold fan tail and on its behind
and all over and then another fan tail joined in to bit on the same fish but
not any of the others. i took the two aggresive fish out and put in a large
fish bowl. the other fish in the bigger tank are not biting the white one but
why were the other two biting it? The would actually hold it down on the
bottom of the tank and aggresivly bite it all over or they would constantly
chase it around and bite it but mainly the reular gold fish was the most
aggresive. Please help i need to know if something is wrong with them.

Goldfishes are sick - please help recommend medicine

Author: YMC

Hi,

I have an established tank - about 100 litres -5 fantails and the goldfish
have been living there for about 3 years happily. No diseases.

One of my relatives in her wisdom bought 2 other fantails and dropped them
into my tank without informing me first. They developed spots on their tails
and bodies - like white sickly bumps. I tried to quarrantine them and they
died in quarrantine - a secondary borrorwed fish tank.

The other fantails also seemed to get sick too. I put some generic aquarium
medicine - and they recovered - a month ago.

However the spots have appeared again - and this time some of the goldfish
tails have turned like angel hair -strands.

I went away for the weekend - and the tails seem to have recovered but they
still have smallish spots. Otherwise they look active.

Now what shall I do? What have they got? And what sort of food or medicine
can I give them to help them recover?

Help! My Fantail is not pooping or eating

I need help! My 3 year old fantail who has been very healthy except for
constipation all her life, has been sitting on the bottom of the tank for the
past 2 weeks or more, too heavy to swim. I have tried giving her peas, she
has eaten them for a couple of days, but has been unable to poop anything out!
She has become very distressed and now is getting depressed. Today she would
not eat. I have been researching if there could be another problem on the
net, and I am wondering if she could be egg-bound. Her stomach is not
completely taught today but more squishy and she has two holes, her rectum
and then another one just beneath it which has a dark grey oval around it,
which I think I have read, if I am understanding correctly, is a sign that
she has eggs inside her.

I'm concerned that I am not doing enough for her and that I am not diagnosing
her condition properly. Can someone help me?? Today I gave her an epsom
bath to try to draw some fecal matter and all I got was some redness at her
anus, sort of like a sore!! which has really freaked me out!

I purchased some antibiotic food today, but she won't touch it and, usually
ravenous, she won't eat any peas today.

Do female goldfish ready to lay eggs quit eating? What do I do if she is egg-
bound? We have no fish doctors where I live. I don't want to lose her!!
