Description: Content Technology is responsible for delivering systems that transform diverse data into various delivery systems including online, print and portable technologies. We focus on building highly scaleable and reusable processing systems that are integrated into a wide variety of West products. We rely heavily upon technologies such as XML, Java and Oracle. The candidate should have solid experience developing in Java in a UNIX or LINUX environment. The candidate must have an excellent understanding of software engineering quality practices, and structured development methods. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment within a project/program oriented organizational structure. The candidate will have full life cycle responsibilities including analysis of requirements with users, documentation of the formal software requirements, participation in the high and low level design of the system, actual coding of the system, as well as system testing of individual components. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY . Participate in the design and development of next generation applications, including phases of large-scale projects . Participate as a team member and assisting other team members where needed. . Generate innovative approaches and solutions to technology challenges . Excel at managing multiple priorities and working under deadlines. . May provide off-hour support for production application - escalates issues as appropriate. . Demonstrate initiative to identify and implement process improvements in the group. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS . BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience with computer systems analysis and programming. . 1-2 years of software development experience in an academic or professional setting . Minimum of 2-3 years Java experience in an academic or professional setting . Well versed in database technologies, specifically Oracle . Working knowledge of accepted software engineering methods such as structured programming, reusable software, life-cycle development, and object-oriented programming. . Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal . Must be a fast learner PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS . Experience with a variety of IDE%%27s . Experience XML and XSLT .
