Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday that Iranian
nation will insist on its legitimate rights stipulated in Non-Proliferation Treaty
(NPT).

Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Myanmar U
Kyaw Thu, adding that adopting a biased stance towards Iranians to deprive a nation
of scientific and technological progress runs counter to all international criteria.

Turning to the US false strategy in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan, he said that the
US militarism in Iraq has failed, and that if the US intends to avert the current
crises caused by its foreign policy, it should respect Iraqi national sovereignty and
the right to determine their own destiny.

Referring to the relations between Iran and Myanmar, he noted that there are good
potentials to expand bilateral cooperation and the two countries enjoy various
capacities in this respect.

Mottaki has invited his Myanmar counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran, and expressed
hope that establishing a joint commission will boost cooperation between the two
sides in the fields of energy and economic exchanges.

The foreign minister said that Iranian rich culture and civilization have served
humanity. Iranians have never exercised injustice to other nations, neither they
allowed to be exploited nor did they want to exploit others.

On his part, Myanmar deputy foreign minister expressed satisfaction with bolstering
ties between the two countries, saying that Myanmar is keen on expanding cooperation
with Iran in the fields of energy, agriculture and economy.

Touching on his country's serious study to open its embassy in Tehran, he added that
Myanmar would utilize Iran's successful experiences in terms of scientific and
industrial technology.

He expressed hope that his country can make use of the Islamic Republic's experiences
in line with development and prosperity.
