Description: Job Code 07-0226 Title Engineer 1 - Dist Engineering-ACE City Berlin State NJ Job Description Performs all activities required to initiate and design, in a computer generated work management system (WMIS), cost-effective, high quality solutions for internal/external customer requests for engineering services. Interfaces with District Construction Resources to meet customer in-service dates, including coordinating with other utilities and job contractors. Performs Power Quality investigations to resolve all classes (Residential, Commercial and Industrial) of customer inquiries. Maintains accurate GIS (Geospatial Information System) data. Leads, coordinates, or supervises the work of others. Determines compliance with NESC, company standards, company safety rules, OSHA regulations and other utility agreements Performs outage evaluation in emergency restoration efforts. Maintains computer generated model (CYME) of each distribution circuit, showing electrical parameters such as voltage, amperage, available short circuit current, and power factor. Assists in the development and implementation plans for the optimization of the electric distribution system. Job Requirements Required: * Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. * Knowledge and understanding of engineering fundamentals, including principles, theories, standards, concepts, and techniques. * Experience performing assignments demonstrating typical engineering skills and competencies. * Experience demonstrating skill collecting and analyzing data. * Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based spreadsheet, word processing and e-mail software. * Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites. * Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call and during storms and system emergencies on an occasional basis. * Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing). * Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Must possess a valid drivers license. * Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Preferred: * Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. * Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, Visio). * Experience demonstrating skill reading and interpreting construction plans, engineering drawings, etc. * Experience demonstrating skill providing customer service, which may include initiating and designing engineering solutions for internal and/or external customer requests. * Experience demonstrating skill interfacing and coordinating with other departments, companies, and contractors. * Experience demonstrating skill using a geospacial information system (GIS) and/or work management system (for example, WMIS) to perform work functions such as creating sketches, maintaining accurate data, updating the status of projects, or creating job instructions. * Experience using PC-based analytical software and/or presentation software. * Experience demonstrating skill performing relevant utility engineer functions for Distribution Engineering, such as designing system enhancements and customers electric service connections.
