Yes, there are. You can find them at some shopping malls and in the
parking lots at gas stations and convenience stores. By Sunday,
they're often too full of garage sale junk to hold anything else.

If you're in the west end, Goodwill in Bells Corners is open on Sunday
- for shopping and donations. I think that you can drop clothes off at
the back of any Salvation Army store, too, even though they're closed
on Sunday. They usually put a donation box behind the store.

I was in that situation last year and found one in the parking lot of
the Home Depot at Innes Rd & the 417.

Yes, I can see that. Even further, from web searching, people have used those
bins for kitchen and industrial waste.

Hmmm, that's good. Thanks, Susan.

Susan

Never donate to the Sally Ann after closing hours. The hordes rip through
everything during the night and take whatever they deem valuable.
There is a Sally Ann not too far from my place. The staff has told me every
morning they have a mess to clean up in the back parking lot. They even put
a lock on the garbage bin because they rifle through that and throw the
contents all over. Some peoples kids.....

Craig, thanks. I passed by a set of their bins, and they looked like a mess.
The signs clearly say do not leave stuff outside the boxes, but that was
ignored. One box was knocked over. Someone in the industry said that such a
mess causes reputational damage to the organization. So I just dropped it off
at Value Village instead. Funny how much gas it took to recycle that little bit
of stuff. But part of that environmental cost is to learn about the lay of the
land, in terms of donating used goods.
