We can now tell you why all four of Ottawa's beaches were closed on
Saturday.

Another raw sewage spill into the Ottawa River occurred early Saturday
morning.

This time the spill wasn't nearly as big as the billion-litre one in 2006
because of new protocols at city hall.

Since that leak, city officials decided to check every sewage gate after
every rainfall.

A memo from the Deputy Manager of Public Works has gone out to city council
saying the Booth Street "regulator" was jammed open by debris and the
situation was corrected later Saturday morning.

The billion-litre sewage spill two years ago was the result of a gate being
stuck open for two weeks.

Didn't know where else to post this, and could call local brokers,

Am becoming very worried about family nest egg tied up in an exurban
home, single family detached, when gas will only go up, and property
values are either already going down, or are bound to go down sooner
rather than later.
