  openSuse & XP networking basics....

can someone direct me to some newb-level networking info for openSuse
10.3 that is specifically about networking with XP. we've got XP-64
workstations and i can see them ok from the linux box and grab files off
them, but i need it working the other way.

on the XP side i can see 3 directories on the linux box:
groups
profiles
users

but always get asked for a username & password when trying to access
them... i have no idea what the username and/or password should be...
i've added my PC's IP & hostname to the etc/hosts file, but this just
adds a computer name & IP, not a password so i don't see what that has
to do with a remote login...?

i've also tried enabling passwordless login on the linux box but this
only effects the linux login...

Have you ever noticed that if something is advertised as 'amusing' or
'hilarious', it usually isn't?
