Jesus christ, a libertarian who was against universal health care
and could not be bothered with insurance.
But he is selfish enough to leave his family with a bill for
US $400,000.
God you libertarians have some sick ideas, like the one that says
why should I pay for universal health care if i never use it.
Must mention that to my lad who is with the volunteers, why bother
helping people with that attitude if they believe in doing fuck all
for society.
If any of you libertarians go to the states and get sick without
insurance have some balls, refuse medical care.

Had a look around but it seems that NZ is not on the
list of countries that media zone will push it to.
Happy to pay, would using a proxy help ?

Just to let you guys know, the ihug (Vodafone) and Slingshot users
have been unable to use newsgroups since the 28th June.
Even though ihug's Network Status page says that the news server has
been reset and is working again it isn't. It's been running fine the
whole time, it just isn't talking to anything upstream. Nothing gets
out and nothing comes in.
A few of us have complained to Telecommunication Dispute Resolution
( www.tdr.org.nz) to try and get Vodafone to do something about it.

Hi,
We're just releasing a new, powerful image editor for free -- It's
called LightBox, and has some very powerful features, like advanced
auto balance, red-eye removal with face detection, fill-light,
something we call "smart contrast" that is amazing, and all operations
are in 48-bits. It is extremely fast and fluid, and is basically does
for free the same core functions (and more) as Adobe Elements, be we
think we in an easier, better way for the most part. And it's free.
It's basically an image editor for people who don't like image
editors. It has all of the power and is very easy to use.
We'd love to get some samples from people that we can use to show what
our editor can do. We'll be happy to send the results to you. All
information (and the download) can be found at
http://www.lightboxeditor.com/beta.html
It's completely free. No adware, spyware, never expires. extremely
easy to install and remove, and you can just copy the .exe and give it
to anyone.
Thanks,

At about the end of January 2009 I shall be looking to replace my 17" AOC
CRT monitor with a 19" LCD unit. At the present time I have little
knowledge and no practical experience w.r.t. LCD monitors.
My budget for this exercise will be $400, absolute.
I do not do games at all and do not watch but 3-4 movies a year, so I
would take a lot of convincing to go to wide screen 14;9 OR 16:10 format -
which I really do not much care for anyway.
Having done a certain amount of homework, I have concluded that my current
best options are the Samsung Syncmaster 943b or the Viewsonic VA926. Both
are 5:4 aspect ratio. Unless there are compelling reasons to not do so
(e.g., something vastly superior coming along in the meantime), my
inclination is to go with the Samsung unit.
I would be interested to hear from others _with practical experience_ in
this area as to whether I am pointed in the right direction or whether
there are other things I should perhaps consider.
Thanks in advance.

I use my current PC for browsing and document and file handling - and
usually have huge numbers of tabs running, and usually multiple
browsers, plus email, plus torrents, and a media player playing music.
I may also be moving large quantities of files back and forth from my
external drives or camera or flash drives and/or burning CD's etc all
at the same time. The only thing I never use the machine for is
gaming, which I doubt it's on board graphics could cope with anyway.
Understandably my current nine year old PIII 600 is really struggling
with this sort of workload now, and it is getting a bit past it, so I
am looking at getting a new machine, which I intend to hang on to for
a while. I will be dual booting to Ubuntu and XP. I have decided that
XP is mature enough now having made the leap to Win 2K about 4 years
back.
Given that my primary requirements are stability and reliability,
rather than utmost speed, I am looking at buying midrange components
of good quality. The set up I am thinking of getting is this;
