Dave, you and NY's very own Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Jimmy
Breslin!eh He too prefers the seedier Times Square! If you want to
reminisce, all you have to do is walk a few blocks in either direction!
ehe There's enough smut to be found! LOL! Rudy G simply re-zoned all
the sex-related shops. Unfortunately, with the advent of videotape,
the "porn theatre" is a thing of the past. Plus, we now have Larry
Flynt's Hustler Club on the West Side. It looks like Caligula's digs!
eh NYC was once the sex capital of the world!! From 42nd Street to the
premiere of Deep Throat in Times Square (crossroads of the world),
from live sex acts (featured in one of my favorite NYC themed films, 9
1/2 weeks) to the largest concentration of adult media, from sweet Al
Goldstein's Midnight Blue (preceded Playboy TV) & Screw Magazine to
Bob Guccione's Penthouse Magazine, from The Mayflower Madam to Plato's
Retreat (sex swingers club), NYC once reigned supreme in Carnal
pleasures. Personally, I prefer the new & improved version: Disney
Studios and all! eh Since there's never going to be a shortage of
adult oriented entertainment in The City That Never Sleeps, why should
we have to subject families and tourists to it in one of the city's
most popular locales? So much so that Times Square made the list of
Top 10 Places America Goes to have fun!! The mere fact that we have
become the safest, largest city in the nation is well worth the
change!! In fact, the Mayor of Minneapolis is using the Times Square
blueprint to clean up his own city!! If you want romance, it doesn't
get any better than taking a horse-carriage ride through Central Park
(world's most famous recreational park, home to Strawberry Fields
Memorial), or a summer stroll across The Brooklyn Bridge (world's
first steel suspension bridge; most romanticized bridge on earth). -D,
NYC "We are living in the excesses of freedom. Just take a look at
42nd Street and Broadway" - WILL DURANT, Historian.."This Broadway's
got a lot of songs to sing. If I knew the tunes, I might join in. I'll
go my way alone, grow my own, my own seeds shall be sown in New York
City" - ELTON JOHN.."Actor Roy Harold Scherer Jr., was given his stage
name by his agent, who combined the "Rock of Gibraltar" with the name
of the Hudson River. The actor became Rock Hudson, of course" - LITTLE
BIG BOOK OF NEW YORK.."Economically, the 1927-28 season is the most
successful in the history of NYC theatre: 264 shows opened in 76
Broadway theatres" - IBID.."The rest of the country looks upon New
York like we're left-wing communist Jewish homosexual pornographers. I
think of us that way sometimes and I live here" ehe - WOODY ALLEN (b.
Konigsberg, umpteenth sweet, Jewish NY).."The year 1984 brought a
fresh new opportunity to flop on Broadway. I signed to act in a play
called Home Front" - CARROLL O' CONNOR.."All those days of waiting on
tables until I could get a role on Broadway, all that time going to
school taking lessons, and all those years of being a nobody following
a dream-and now here it is" - MARCIA GAY HARDEN..."I grew up in New
York. I have friends in New York. My soul is lined up in all the right
ways when I'm in New York" - MEG RYAN (as told to umpteenth sweet,
Jewish NYer Cindy Adams, Page 6, NY POST).."I love the city. I can't
imagine living anywhere else. I intend to move here as soon as I
finish up a film I'm doing." - RENEE ZELLWEGER (Ibid).."I did 'Bash'
here two years ago, 'Three Sisters' five years ago and hope to do
another play soon. That's because my secret agenda is to be back in
New York. In L.A., I have a house and yard and it's good for my baby.
I have parents in Tennessee but I don't want to live there. I have
friends in California but it's so transient there. I'd really love to
relocate in New York because it has everything." - CALISTA FLOCKHART,
IBID.."And it's so great to be in New York. To look out your windows
and feel the collage that is Manhattan's skyline. The city is
thrilling. I love walking in New York, I love its museums. The city is
a cultural feeding frenzy" - DANNY HUSTON, IBID, filmmaker, son of
John Huston.."We held a concert out in Brooklyn..To watch the Island
bridges blow..You know those lights were bright on Broadway..But that
was so many years ago...Before we all lived here in Florida...Before
the Mafia took over Mexico..They sent a carrier out from Norfolk..And
picked the Yankees up for free..They said that Queens could
stay...They blew the Bronx away...And sank Manhattan out to sea" -
BILLY JOEL (umpteenth sweet, Jewish NYer, Top 100 selling artist of

I'm pleased with Pete's success but I don't like what they've done to
it" - ROGER DALTREY.."But I can't wait to watch the Tony's this
Sunday. I'm really glad Broadway is doing so well this year,
especially with its straight plays. It's been a wonderful year" -
