  PXE and GB Port

Author: durk.merrell
Date: Jan 10, 2007 14:12

Workstations configured with PXE find the image server when they are
connected to s 10/100 Mbps port. If the workstation is connected to a
1GBps port, they do not find the image server. The workstations are Dell
Optiplex GX260's, and 270's.

What do we not understand?

Thanks,

  Abend with DTS.NLM after a Zen7 Sp1 Upgrade

Author: dominic.masse

Hi everyone,
I have this issue, after we upgrade our Zenworks 4 to Zenworks 7 SP1. Here
the details of our server:
- Novell Netware 6
- Support Pack Revision 05
- eDirectory 8.7.3

I have check many Novell newsgroups with the same problem, but it seems
there's no solution. Some persons say there is a link with the version of
the service pack.

Is there a Hotfix ? or a step-by-step solution?

Here's the abend (thank you for your help!) :

Server S09N halted Thursday, December 7, 2006 12:07:58.783 pm
Abend 1 on P00: Server-5.60.05: Page Fault Processor Exception (Error code

  No Reboot just hangs

Author: Tycopolis

I'm imaging via pxe. The image is loaded without a problem. No errors.
I close out by doing *ALT+X*. When I get to the # prompt, I type:

# REBOOT

The PC boots up and then hangs at the following:

THE ZENWORKS IMAGING AGENT IS FINALIZING... (YADA YADA YADA...)

PLEASE WAIT TO LOG IN TO OR SHUT DOWN THIS WORKSTATION... ETC.. ETC...

The system never reboots and the message never disappears.

When I manually shut down and restart the machine, I get the same
message about the Zenworks Imaging Agent, and then I get the following
Windows error msg:

Windows - Delayed Write Failed
WINDOWS WAS UNABLE TO SAVE ALL THE DATA FOR THE FILE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\MSDAPRSR.DLL. THE DATA HAS BEEN LOST.
THIS ERROR MAY BE CAUSED BY A FAILURE OF YOUR COMPUTER HARDWARE OR
NETWORK CONNECTION. PLEASE TRY TO SAVE THIS FILE ELSEWHERE.

Some of the machines that I've imaged did just fine, and some are
giving me this headache... =^)

How do I fix this problem?

Server locking up - post SP1

Author: Wendy Fleig

I have a NW65 server (SP4 - I know I'm behind) with Zen7, sp1, HP2, one NIC with two IPs bound. After SP1 the server started locking up and both IPs would stop responding. The only way to get it back was give it the finger. I tried a different NIC with the same result, ruling out hardware issues. I have GW7 webaccess loaded and changed it to load in its own memory space and the problem went away. I installed HP2 yesterday and the problem is back.

It seems to be happening when a large number of machines reboot and contact the imaging server. I think they are trying to run update.s and they are getting hung up, as well as the server. This morning we had 50 PCs sitting at the image screen doing nothing. I actually tried an image last week by setting up the policy and the same thing happened at the PC end. I could boot to the CD or the ZEN partition and do a manual image session with no problem.

Is there a way to disable the automatic update of the ZEN partition from the server end, or does anyone have any clue what might be happening? Right now I have the image server not loaded unless we need to do an image, then it must be unloaded...

Thanks,

Wendy

NIC Link issues with Imaging ZDM 7 SP1 Hp2

I'm not a linux guy (yet) I'm just getting started both with linux and
ZFD imaging.

We're trying to image HP/Compaq dc5000 PC's with broadcom nics. The tg3
driver loads, but never activates- I'm unable to get an DHCP address
only when booting off of the cd. IF I look at the hwinfo -- netcard, the
link is not active, but the driver is. I have no idea except that the
nic is not working and unable to get an IP. It is software. Booting off
of the HD is fine.

I can't even get the hwinfo to copy to floppy- I'm so inexperienced with
linux and bash prompts.

Any ideas?
