  SUSE 10.1 Installation

Upgrading 10.0 to 10.1 did not work for me either. Very sad about this as
I have 4 machines to upgrade.

But don't worry, you might be better off with 10.0 as 10.1 is really pretty
bad after installing all of it, and installing patches to numerous to
mention I know have a system where the yast upgrade just core dumps.

I would suggest going to opensuse or another distribution.

David

  installation fails. now what?

I'm unable to find the support that supposedly comes along with the retail
version of Suse Linux.
I purchased Suse Linux (the bookstore has only 10.0) yesterday and have
spent yesterday, last night and this morning trying to install it.
YaST will sometimes connect and work without hanging and freezing the PC,
leaving only the power switch as a means of restarting. If YaST does
function, the machine will boot successfully 1 time out of 7 attempts.
After the 5hour long online update process, all boots result in a black
screen with a white bar in the top left corner after login and eventually
purple and green flashing polygons.
The install is on a Pentium III box using the suggested partitioning and
software installation. The Windows 2000 partition still boots and runs
flawlessly, every time...

Suse 10.1 VS onboard wireless in a Dell 700m Laptop

Hello, Installed Suse 10.1 on my Dell 700m last night. So far everything
works except the wireless card. And it seems that no one else has a problem
with it. Which either means I'm ridiculous, or I'm unique in my problems.
Maybe both. The 700m has the Intel

  Removing Dual Boot

Author: Doc
Date: Sep 19, 2006 16:04

I have SuSE 10 installed on a dual boot configuration with Windows XP
(only had one drive at the time). I am now running SuSE 10 under VMware
as a guest and would like to remove the dual boot WITHOUT reformatting
the hard drive. Suggestions/recommendations?
Thanks,

Nick.

users cannot log in after a few days

I created a user and it worked fine for a day or two. Then I started my
computer see a dialog error box that says "Your session only lasted less
than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out, this could mean that there is
some installation problem or that you may be out of diskspace"

I have plenty of diskspace. I can't figure out what the problem is. The
only two things I have done is install Yahoo messenger and compile and
build MPlayer.

I created another user and a few days later this same error message comes
up. I have to log in GNOME Failsafe mode to log in.

Today I created my third user account - this time named "guest". So far it
works fine but who knows if it will be working tomorrow.

Please help.
