  Configuring the firewall

Author:
Date: Jun 10, 2007 05:53

Hi Everyone

Sorry if this looks too silly.

I need to include services in my firewall that I could ideally
configure thru Yast Control center in SuSe 10.

I am not able to access my friends windows machine thru the network
using samba. It would say 'Could not connect to host for smb://frensMachine.
So I disable the firewall and I could connect, I enable the firewall I
am blocked again.

So I look at the firewall setting. They have the configuration listed
like this.
Start-Up - Set the start-up behavior
Interfaces - All known network interfaces are listed here. And they
all are listed as 'Configured in - External Zone'.
Masquerading - Masquerading hides your internal network from external
networks
Allowed Services - By default, the system is only protected from
external zones. I thought this is where I should mention the services.

I can set what services are allowed for the zones "External, Internal
or DMZ".

GateKeeper,

Your message was not posted to the official Novell news

While your news server might show the Novell support

messages on the Novell server and for that reason,
you will probably never get a reply to your

I suggest you post your message directly to the official

  intermittant hanging of os

Author: kent wells
Date: Feb 13, 2007 15:21

I have just installed SLED 9.3. I have every few min. a complete halting of
the operating system. The symptoms include the cursor being no responsive
for up to 20 seconds. After this time the os responds. I tested the system
by looking at streaming video. It was garbled. It isn't just the mouse
failing. The system monitor shows a 5%% blip in cpu usage during these
events. Any help with this would greatly be appreciated.
