I agree; very strange.
This is a new SATA drive right out of the box. I just finished
installing XP on half of it. That's working fine. I just downloaded
the SLED 10 *.ISO's and created the CD's. Used them for the SLED 10
install and this happened.
This is a very big stretch, but the only thing that I can think of that
references NLD9 on the hard drive is a TAR file sitting on the XP
partition. It is an Intel BIOS update (I haven't installed) that I was
going to look at later. But, I really don't think that a SLED 10
install would go snooping around on another operating system's
partition. Other than that, I have not consciously included anything
dealing with NLD9.
Another note, I've always installed SLED 10 from the bootable DVD.
However, this particular Intel motherboard (D945GNT) would not boot from
a DVD, only a CD. So this is the first time I've tried to install SLED
10 from CD's.
No, I did not include anything extra for the SLED 10 install. Just the
first 3 CD's, and only the first 3 CD's were used.

(eval) it got me to run two packages update thing, After that i had SLES
#1 Bug, why would it switch me to server from desktop because of apache?
after that i could not choose KDE or GNOME as login graphical interfaces
only. I discovered that some files are server (some in i586) the rest are
desktop and nothing would seem to work right. Some how i enabled XDMCP.I
need help getting back to just SLED and i would like to know how to disable
XDMCP so i can actually get to a login screen!!

I installed SLED 10 on a pc with two hard disks. On disk 0 (sda) I
installed Windows XP SP2 and SLED 10 and on disk 1 (sdb) Windows XP SP2.
Grub installed on disk 0 and I think it's ok. However, in spite of the fact
that SLED 10 boots nice, none installation of Windows boots (on the screen
appears "chainloader (hd0,0)+1" or "chainloader (hd1,0)+1", depending on
the Windows I like to boot, and then the system hangs up). I'd greatly
appreciate any comment on order to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Hello everybody,
I have just purchased SLED for my new Intel/ASUS P5B-E based system. Now I
see that P5B-E was not the best choice I could have done, but alas it's too
late.
Can anyone provide any hints how to get the system to recognize the DVD
drive attached to the JMicron PATA?
I tried some hints I've googled, such as using the generic-ide module,
setting the JMicron controller to work in AHCI mode. What I am curious about
is that I've found hints on
loading the pata_jmicron driver manually, but I can't find that driver on my
SLES installation DVD (downloaded from the Novell website).
Any hints out there?
Thanks in advance,
Ondrej Krajicek

I have a Dell laptop running SLED 10. I move around to different networks,
sometimes 2 or 3 times usually using hinbernate iunstead of shutdown to
save time.
Most of the time when I bring my machine back from hibernation it fails to
get an IP address from dhcp, the only way to get it to work is to delete
the interface and recreate it. I usually use yast to accomplish that and
it works just about all the time. Anyone have any ideas why it does this?
Thanks
