Unable to install both from Dvd or Cd 1

Author: panda
Date: Dec 22, 2006 10:12

Hi,
I am trying to install Suse 10.1 Linux on a Acer F6 desktop PC, (Sata Hd
but DVD/CD combo drive on Ide)
No problem to boot on Dvd or Cd but directly after the loading of the
Linux Kernel (just after the Install option) the install process couldn't
find CD1 (still in the drive). This append with a commercial distribution.
Any idea ?

Merry Christmas to all Linux lovers !

  Virtualization: Windows and SLED 10

Author: David Fumento
Date: Nov 28, 2006 15:11

I currently have a dual boot XP Pro, SLED 10 on my Thinkpad. On my new
Thinkpad, in addition to dual boot, I would like to use the virtualization
so that I can run the Linux without having to dual boot. I have read some
things on-line but was wondering.
1. Use the Windows Virtualization solutions (VPC 2007 beta)?
2. Use the Linux Virtualization solution?

Any other hints, such as the X client to use from Windows into Linux?

TIA

  SLED 10 DVD iso updated

Author: David Fumento

I downloaded the SLED 10 DVD iso about a month ago. Do they update this
basic DVD with the updates (i.e. should I re-download it as it is updated)
or not?

Swedish translation of Novell OpenOffice for SLED10?

Author:
Date: Nov 14, 2006 23:27

Hi!

I just downloaded and installed SLED10. The OpenOffice shipped with it
lacks a swedish translation (and there's no translation package for
swedish available in Yast).

I heard a rumour that there's an update of this Openoffice version
that includes a swedish translation. Where can I find it?

Thanks,
\EF

C++ Compiler and KDE Interface in Root

Author: inquiry2006

I downloaded SLED 10.1 64 bit DVD last week and did not experience any
compatibility issues with the HP 6320 notebook, which has been certified
for Linux by HP. Despite having installed the GNU C++ compiler, it did not
show up under either Gnome or KDE. I checked twice under the software
installation option to ensure that the GNU compiler had been installed. I
switched to KDE in user mode, and as before, the development category was
missing under user and root access.

Since I much prefer KDE to the Gnome interface, I would also like to switch
the root access to that interface. Although I was able to switch to KDE for
the user mode, root remains Gnome.

I also very much prefer the look and feel of SuSE 9.2 Professional to SLED.
SLED, especially in Gnome, is far too simplistic for my taste. I suspect
that SLED is geared to less computer literate business users, however, I
recommend that some thought be given to a variant more suitable for more
computer literate users.

  sled-gnome-cbt_en-10.3.16 fails integrity check

Author: leo_dagum

I downloaded the sled 10 cd images for x86 and tried installing on an hp
dc7600 desktop machine. On the 3rd cd the installation throws an error
exception "sled-gnome-cbt_en-10.3.16 fails integrity check" and gives the
options to retry/abort/ignore. Retry fails. Abort or ignore both result
in aborting the installation and booting the system. Since no system
configuration has happened there is no root user so it's impossible to
log in.

I tried changing the wm to kde from default gnome, but the installer
still insists on checking (to presumably install) this package. I have
zero need for this package, is there no way to truly ignore it?
