  configuring synaptics touchpad on inspiron 6400

Hi All,

I've recently installed SLED 10 on my Dell Inspiron 6400 with a
Synaptics touchpad. I've been trying to configure it so that tapping
the touchpad is button 1, that the left button is the button 2 (middle
button on a mouse). When I did a xmodmap -e "pointer 2 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
10 11 12", both the tapping and the left button changed to "middle
button" functionality".

I've done a bunch of research, and nothing comes up about chaning the
tapping & buttons. It's pretty disappointing, the windows driver for
the touchpad allows me to rearrange buttons, but I can't seem to figure
out how to do this in SLED. I haven't tried any other Linux distro on
this machine.

version of SUSE operating Systems .

  Agere Win Modem Not Working, Error "Resource or Device Busy"

When ever I try to connect to the net, either through KInternet or KPPP, I
get the message that the modem is busy. I have an Agere winmodem and have
gotten the drivers from the Linuxant site. The drivers installed without
problem and I now have a /dev/modem file. However, I still get the error.
Surfing on the net, I found out that the IRQ and Port numbers may be the
culprit. So, for the Port and IRQ, here is what I found. Maybe it will mean
something to someone, I can't make out anything...

From lspci -v IRQ = 10, I/0 Port = bc00 AND b800
From setserial /dev/modem IRQ = 0, Port = 0x0000

I tried to change the Port and IRQ with setserial /dev/modem port 0xb800
irq 0x10 but it says that argument is invalid. I also tried giving the
arguments without the '0x', even tried giving only one argument at a time,
but to no avail.

So, how do I get it to run. Any help would be appreciated.

  NLD 10 Compaq nx7010

I have installed NLD 10 on my nx7010 and I am not getting any video on the
laptops LCD. I have to connect an external monitor to be able to see the
desktop.

SaX2 recognizies the ATI card as a Radeon 9000 (it really is a 9200), I
have tried activating the dual head mode and several different screen types
but have not had any luck.

Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. Changing the mouse is not practical at this time;
it is currently a PS/2 type KVM switch anyway. I added the suggested line
to the file; it did not help. It works to unplug the mouse, and plug it
back in; apparantly forces a reload of the settings. This will be fine for
now, as I work with the system.

I have an install of SLED10 on a machine connected to a KVM, in order to
work with the Novell when I have a break. It will boot fine and operate
correctly until I switch away from the Novell machine. When I switch back,
the mouse no longer functions properly. The slightest movement causes the
pointer to race all over the screen, and various right & left click events
are generated. I can use the keyboard to get out and reboot. The monitor
works with no problems. The machine itself works fine with the mouse and
switch when I boot it into Windows; I can switch back & forth with no problems.

Any settings I need to check?

  Sync Treo 650

Has anyone had any success syncing a Treo 650 with SLED 10.1? I would
like to sync with Evolution. I've tried gpilot and kpilot. Gpilot can
recognize my Treo user name, but after that I cannot get it to sync. Is
there a good HowTo somewhere on this? Any help would be great. Thanks...

Running SELD 10.1

I have been following the suggestions that a proprietary ATI driver can
help to resolve some of the issues, but the ATI site gives me two options
neither of which seems correct for SLED. (see
om/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27)

Google earth runs poorly and trying the cube thing leaves me without
borders on my Windows..

Any suggestions on a way forward?

  nvidia driver

Hi,
I install v10.1, everything if ok.
Because I have a nvidia video card I want 3D accelaration.
I install from the Yast application (from the ftp of nvidia)
but when I restart my computer, it freeze at the splash screen of nvidia....

Any idea ?
Did I need to configure my xorg.conf ?

Hi. Looking for some tips on installing a HP ScanJet 6300C (USB) in 10.1.

YaST Scanner Configuration detects the scanner. When I attempt to apply the
driver to it (SANE-hp), 'hp' loads with "no scanner recognized by this
driver".

Additionally, "sane-find-scanner" properly detects the scanner, however
"scanimage -L" returns "No scanners were identified..."
