OK -- thanks for the correction -- so what I was thinking about of
Oplocks 2. Regarding 'OpLocks 1' I guess my assumption was that the
combination of turning off client side file caching plus setting file
commit to On at the client level pretty much had the effect of
'killing' OpLocks.

well, is it just running out of memory every month? is that what's
happening? If so, wouldn't putting more memory in the machine only prolong
it running out? Isn't there something that is supposed to cleanup the
cache every so often?
Thanks,

ok, i'm rather new to netware and have inherited the duties of server
admin. For the last year or so, every 28-30 days, my backups stop running.
Below are the messages i'm getting.
Version:
Novell Small Business Suite 5
Support Pack Revision 06
Server version 5.00.09
NDS Version 7.51
When the backup fails, i get this message in the log:
Could not connect to UNIONCTY.Novell Directory:. The login credentials may
be incorrect. All selections for this device will be skipped.
Backup exec version 9.10 Revision 1067
Additionally, on the console screen there are the following:
Cache memory allocator out of available memory
Short term memory allocator is out of memory. 545 attempts to get more
memory failed. request size in bytes 4096 from Module NWPA.NLM
The hardware specs are as follows:

As far as I know SBS 6.6 is no more available, possibly we have to
migrate to windows-server 2003 by the end of the year. I have annother
Netware License ( 5.1 5 User ), but we have 12 clients using a
Sybase-database, all clients are using the same Netware-Username. May I
install this Netware-version on newer hardware? Do I need additional
licenses?
