Not that I know of. You mentioned that you are restoring to a new NetWare
server - is it the same version of NetWare. Are you using TSA600 or TSAFS
for the restore? To check this, type M TSA* at the server console.

You could try the restore again with the agent in debug mode (BESTART -ZL).
Once the restore is complete, take a look in sys:\bkupexec\log\ndmpd.log
for some SMS related errors which may give you some clues.

  Btrieve v.8.5

Author: Wai Meng CHU
Date: Jan 18, 2007 02:38

After having installed Arcserve v.11.1 sp1 and upgraded to Btrieve v.8.5,
the DHCPSRVR in my Netware 6.5 sp4 server is unable to start up.

How can this be fixed to allow DHCPSRVR to load successfully and also to
enable ARCserve to run successfully as well?

If rev back older version of Btrieve is the only solution, how can I rev
back the older version of Btrieve as no backup can be sourced from?

How can I know what are the complete lists of system / configuration files
for Btrieve that I can copy from another Netware 6.5 sp4 server that is not
upgraded with Btrieve v.8.5?

Regards
Wai Chu

Richard,

+1 on the feedback on the product (and the humor!) as we're going to be
purchasing Retrospect for our systems in the near future.

Virtualizing Netware volumes in VMWare Server 1.0

Author: Mike M

(originally posted in the NW6x.install-upgrade...that was probably the wrong
forum to post this question.

Take 2...)

We're looking at using VMWare for migrating a NetWare 6.0sp5 server to
NW6.5sp5 or
newer. I'd like to use VMWare Server 1.0 (we've been running GSX in
production for 4 years and are quite happy with it) for this migration.

In the event of a catatrophic failure, and given the issues with restoring a
SYS volume from a previous data via a VMDK file, I plan on reinstalling the
OS, then restoring data volumes (300GB or so). However, using VMWare, I'd
like to just copy the VMDK files that host the Data volumes rather than
restore from tape.

Any issues or "gotchas" to restore data volumes in this scenario?

Thanks,
Mike
