  Netware 6.5 Backup Using Netbackup

Author: Phil Angus

Hi all,

I have recently introduced Windows 2003 active directory on to our network,
and I am running a Windows media server. I am trying to load the Netbackup
client on to my four NW servers, but the servers are not seen during the
install from the Windows machine. If I try the install from a Windows
machine not on the active directory domain, (set as a workgroup member) it
sees the servers during a 'dummy run' of the install, but I need the main
Windows media server to see the NW servers so it can back them up.

Netbackup version 6.

Any ideas? Has anyone else done this?

If the application he was using supports and uses backup files, then it
might be possible to salvage the last backup file created when the user
last saved.

Microsoft Word creates backup files if you have it turned on. So does
AutoCAD.

I have bailed out quite a few people by using salvage (right-mouse click
the directory on the server from Windows Explorer) to undelete the most
recent backup file.

Arcserve 9.01 - Failed to Scan Next Data Set, ret=fffeffff

I have installed a brand new Netware 6.5 SP6 server. The server was
installed with a NW6.5 SP5 ISO imaged CD and then SP6 was applied.

When I try to back it up from another server (Netware 6.0 SP5), I receive
the error "Failed to Scan Next Data Set, ret=fffeffff" on each server
volume and nothing is backed up.

We are using Arcserve 9.01 and I am using the TSAFS.NLM (6.52.02) with no
switches.

Any ideas ?

Are there any tweaks that I need to make to the BTI.CFG file on the
NW6.5SP6 server ?

Here's a sample Arcserve log:

Since you can get SYS on line:

Take a look at VCU. It will copy the volume data and trustees to
another pool. This will allow you to do what ever you need with teh
disks to create a new SYS pool and move the SYS drive to it.

TID10088251 - is a start for you.
