Not that I know of. You mentioned that you are restoring to a new NetWare
server - is it the same version of NetWare. Are you using TSA600 or TSAFS
for the restore? To check this, type M TSA* at the server console.
You could try the restore again with the agent in debug mode (BESTART -ZL).
Once the restore is complete, take a look in sys:\bkupexec\log\ndmpd.log
for some SMS related errors which may give you some clues.

After having installed Arcserve v.11.1 sp1 and upgraded to Btrieve v.8.5,
the DHCPSRVR in my Netware 6.5 sp4 server is unable to start up.
How can this be fixed to allow DHCPSRVR to load successfully and also to
enable ARCserve to run successfully as well?
If rev back older version of Btrieve is the only solution, how can I rev
back the older version of Btrieve as no backup can be sourced from?
How can I know what are the complete lists of system / configuration files
for Btrieve that I can copy from another Netware 6.5 sp4 server that is not
upgraded with Btrieve v.8.5?
Regards
Wai Chu

Richard,
+1 on the feedback on the product (and the humor!) as we're going to be
purchasing Retrospect for our systems in the near future.

(originally posted in the NW6x.install-upgrade...that was probably the wrong
forum to post this question.
Take 2...)
We're looking at using VMWare for migrating a NetWare 6.0sp5 server to
NW6.5sp5 or
newer. I'd like to use VMWare Server 1.0 (we've been running GSX in
production for 4 years and are quite happy with it) for this migration.
In the event of a catatrophic failure, and given the issues with restoring a
SYS volume from a previous data via a VMDK file, I plan on reinstalling the
OS, then restoring data volumes (300GB or so). However, using VMWare, I'd
like to just copy the VMDK files that host the Data volumes rather than
restore from tape.
Any issues or "gotchas" to restore data volumes in this scenario?
Thanks,
Mike

OK -- what SCSI ID -- shouldn't matter though..

OK
-- I'd delete the 'disconnected' listings though again that is more
a matter of 'housekeeping' than an important variable here.

Hi all,
I have recently introduced Windows 2003 active directory on to our network,
and I am running a Windows media server. I am trying to load the Netbackup
client on to my four NW servers, but the servers are not seen during the
install from the Windows machine. If I try the install from a Windows
machine not on the active directory domain, (set as a workgroup member) it
sees the servers during a 'dummy run' of the install, but I need the main
Windows media server to see the NW servers so it can back them up.
Netbackup version 6.
Any ideas? Has anyone else done this?

If the application he was using supports and uses backup files, then it
might be possible to salvage the last backup file created when the user
last saved.
Microsoft Word creates backup files if you have it turned on. So does
AutoCAD.
I have bailed out quite a few people by using salvage (right-mouse click
the directory on the server from Windows Explorer) to undelete the most
recent backup file.

I have installed a brand new Netware 6.5 SP6 server. The server was
installed with a NW6.5 SP5 ISO imaged CD and then SP6 was applied.
When I try to back it up from another server (Netware 6.0 SP5), I receive
the error "Failed to Scan Next Data Set, ret=fffeffff" on each server
volume and nothing is backed up.
We are using Arcserve 9.01 and I am using the TSAFS.NLM (6.52.02) with no
switches.
Any ideas ?
Are there any tweaks that I need to make to the BTI.CFG file on the
NW6.5SP6 server ?
Here's a sample Arcserve log:

Since you can get SYS on line:
Take a look at VCU. It will copy the volume data and trustees to
another pool. This will allow you to do what ever you need with teh
disks to create a new SYS pool and move the SYS drive to it.
TID10088251 - is a start for you.

Well, could you please give some more and some better information on your
problem?
First of all, your error code is probably not 444c44c5. Did you mean
FFFcFFC5 by any chance? In any case, in theory, you shouldn't get an
FFFCxxxx type of error with Arcserve as the SMS error codes starting with
FFFC are device errors and given you are not using NetWare's interface to
backup devices, you should never see these errors with Arcserve.
So all in all, please provide the following information:
- exact NetWare version (including SP level) of the server running
Arcserve
- exact NetWare version (including SP level) of the remote server that you
can't back up
- exact Arcserve SP level (for instance, the current one is Arcserve 11.1
SP2)
- Are you using Arcserve agents?
- What are the *exact* full messages reported by Arcserve?
