what the slot # is?

Try this:

copy the c:\nwserver\startup.ncf
start the server with a:
cd\nwserver
server -ns

hand load the disk drivers withOUT any settings. the server should ask
you what IRQ you want to use. It should tell you what IRQ the
controller is sitting on.

If this loads continue working through the startup. Note if any nlm
load either does not load, or causes public symbol errors.

If these all load start bringing up the server one stage at a time as
follows:

LOADSTAGE 1
LOADSTAGE 2
LOADSTAGE 3
LOADSTAGE 4

verify sys is mounted. Then do the following:

autoexec.ncf
LOADSTAGE 5

I'm not sure what you'ere askign here. Some possible interpretations that
come to mind:

1. "I want to mov my user base over" -- exporting users, perhaps with
LDAP tools.

2. "I want to run my NW servers as virtual servers on an MS server" --
most of what I've seen here is answers for using VMWare, but I presume
some people have tried Virtual Server (or whatever the MS product is
called).

3. "I want to wipe my NW servers and use the hardware for MS products" --
fdisk and the MS install instructions, I guess.

Don't know that this helps, but best I can do at the moment.

I guess the CD is faulty. You could download the nw6sp5 ISO overlay
install image and burn a new CD

Re: OK to install a NW65 eval into a NW 6 tree

Author: David Dexter
Date: Jan 17, 2007 15:26

I am in the process of trying to install NW65 into my existing tree.
The install instructs me to run nwdeploy on my existing server, when I
do, it reports : "The tree is prepared the new version of eDirectory.
You can now install NetWare 6.5 and OES servers into your tree."

But, back at the new server install, it just comes back and says I have
to run nwdeploy. It also reports that the server is not in time sync,
so not sure what to do now.

Any help?

Thanks

Does your migration user have any kind of restrictions (address
restrictions or concurrent login restrictions)?

There are a lot of parameters for memory tuning, but by default, the best
option is to let the server auto tune itself and only change the
parameters if you see a problem in a particular area.
