I am using Nfs gateway on Novell 6.5sp6 to import an exported Suse linux
volume. It happens that when i mount the volume and give it a name i.e
"Gymount VOL xx.xx.xx.xx /disk1/data from novell, next time when novell
restarts, i am not able to use the same mount name VOL, i have to change
it to may be VOL1. When i try to mount as VOL, it claims to mount, but
when u try to map to it, it gives access denied, on the otherside, if i
check from the monitor console and try to see if there are any files
inside, it is empty. I have tried to clean anything that was mounted as
VOL, but no change. Where does it keep this name, in the registry or
where.
And next time i restart the server, I have to change the mount name to
VOL2 and so on.....

Well sp7 uses universal password. I'd say you should still be able to
use simple password but i'm not 100%% sure. How do you set the simple
password ?

With 6.5 Sp7 you can actually universal password. Do you have a
password policy in place that set this ?

Sorry, I somehow missed that.
IS the user shown in the log correct? Does the problem occur with any
user? How did you lo into iManager? Just using the bare name or did you
include the context?

You're right. Turned out my "test" user's password was slightly different
between the AD and eDIR (NDS and Simple) versions. Once I reset passwords so
that they were all the same, logins ceased to be a problem.
Thanks.

Hi all
Actually we've configured suse10 OES2 Samba services for eDir auth but we're
not able of get this to work. What we are needing is some troubleshooting
info for this environment. We're identifying that the windows user is able
of get into the server but is not able of get authenticated. Same user is
able of login successfully via FTP (FTP is using LUM for authentication).
ID is answering successfully with eDir info.
ideas? we have some log for posting but we'd like to hear you in order to
know if this info is necessary for troubleshoot.
regards

Safari does seem to be implicated here. Our Mac support guy thinks it's
something to do with how Safari quarantines URLs and that the filestore
is not AFP 3.2.
