I need to export an eDir certificate.
I usually do it with iManager in "Novel Certificate Access" menu then
"View Server Certificate" and so on...

I don't know why (I don't install this server myself) but "Novel
Certificate Access" contains only two sub items : "View My Certificates"
and "View User Certificates".

So I try to do it with "Novell Certificate Server" menu,
"Configure Certificate Authority" submenu,
"Certificates" tab,
"Self signed Certificates" option,
(Certificate status : Click validate...)
"Export..." button,
I don't need to export private key, so "No" and "Next",
I need a "DER format" output, "Next"
and "Save the exported certificate to a file" link.

This action create an empty file named "customcontentservice".

If I choose to create a "Base64 format" output file, the file seems to
be good

Any idea ?



In the end I need this certificate to run this ldapsearch command :

/opt/novell/eDirectory/bin/ldapsearch -D $USER -w $PASSWORD -h $SERVER
-p $PORT -e $CERTIF -b ou=anOU,o=sth -s sub $FILTER > results

I know that an item "Novel Certificate Access" may exists in iManager
main menu, but there isn't. This entry usually contains the "View Server
Certificate" sub entry.

1) You are trying to install an obsolete version of iManager. iManager 2.6
will be diccontinued in less than 2 weeks (see
http://support.novell.com/lifecycle/lcSearchResults.jsp?st=-1&sl=i&sg=-1&pid=100...
). This means Novell is no longer developping any plugins for iManager 2.6
and all newer plugin versions will be iManager 2.7 only.
As such, I think it is a waste of time to install a dead product now and
instead, you should consider using the current product (iManager 2.7 or
even iManager 2.7 SP1)

2) The "standalone" version of iManager 2.6 for NetWare is much more
delicate to install than the integrated version that comes with the
support packs or overlay CDs. As such, I would recommend installing the
support pack that comes with the iManager version you want rather then
trying to update iManager on its own.

All in all, I have one recommendation for you:

Install SP7. This will give you iManager 2.7 (provided you were using
iManager 2.5 or later on that server) and it is also easier to install.
Not having all your servers at the same SP should be no problem as the
only instance were the server version between servers is important is for
eDirectory and the eDirectory difference between SP5 and SP7 is small. In
case you don't have a working iManager installation on the server right
now (or after the SP7 install), then reinstall iManager 2.7 from the
NetWare 6.5 SP7 overlay CDs or DVD.
More generally speaking, if you need functionality from a newer support
pack, always go for the complete support pack reather than picking out
single items.

license agreement and accept it but then I get a Fatal Error message

you check the logger screen and scroll back on it to see if at some
