Migrating Groupwise to Windows Server 2003 ???

Author: cstowe
Date: Jan 8, 2007 07:59

Our company has been forced to move to Windows Server 2003 due to
discontinued support for Novell by various accounting packages we run,
including Lacerte and Intuit, but would like to keep our Groupwise
email. I understand Groupwise can be run completely on a Windows server--
MTA, POA, GWIA, and Webaccess.

Here is our current setup:
Windows Server 2003 R2, completely up to date on patches

Netware Small Business Suite 5.1 SP8, Server version 5.00.11
NDS 8.85c
MTA & POA 6.0.3 beta
GWIA 6.0.2
Webaccess 6.0.1

We also have a new copy of Netware 6.6 Small Business Suite we purchased.

To migrate our existing Groupwise system from the old Netware server to
the Windows 2003 server, would it be better to install the existing NDS
and Groupwise versions on the 2003 server, or the new versions? I'm
assuming we need to install NDS on the 2003 server so it can bring across
the mail accounts to the proper users.

send email, but "reply to" someone else

Howdy,

Running Groupwise 6.5.3 on Netware.

Here's the scenario:
We have UserA and UserB who both work in the company.

UserA needs to send out emails, but Sometimes have the "reply to" value set
to UserB's email address.

Basically, UserA is like a Secretary, and will sometimes send out emails on
behalf of UserB.

Fundamentally, how would i get this done?
I was thinking of maybe creating an Alias for UserA(?)

But can the Alias be set so that the "reply to" adddress will be equal to
UserB's address?

i am not sure.

Or If you have a better idea, that would work to. = ]

thank you

  Which Access Mode to Use

Author: David Dexter
Date: Jan 4, 2007 18:33

We are running GW 6 SP4 on a Netware 6 SP5 system

GW is currently set for Access Mode of Client/Server and Direct, is this
optimal/problematic. Have been experiencing random database
corruption lately and I think this may have been changed from
Client/Server Only in an effort to troubleshoot the problems, but I am
not certain, so I am asking for advice on which is the best choice.

The only other reason that error would occur is if two instances of
Apache are trying to listen on the same IP address. When you do MODULES
APACHE2 at the console, do you already see an instance running (assuming
the ap2webup.ncf instance isn't loaded).

Try this:

UNLOAD APACHE2 (which will kill all apaches loaded) then to AP2WEBUP.
Does it load?
