When I reply, I am often unable to see punctuation marks in the quoted
material. They appears as rectangles:

How do I fix this? TIA,

Baffled, confused and probably just plain stupid - but I can't figure out
how to copy/move/export the messages I've posted to usenet out of Dialog's
Sent messages folder to an external file.
I want to archive the messages I've posted, so I can search them if I need
to. How do I get my previously posted messages out of Dialog and into a
plain text file in my home directory?

Thanks to all who replied to my query. I am embarrassed at having not
thought about the plethora of Live CDs out there, especially since I
have previously used several myself. I am so impressed with the helpful
replies here that when I have Linux up and running on my wife

Does Xnews automatically download new newsgroups upon connection? If not,
what is the procedure for getting them?
Thanks for the help.

This post has only a tangential connexion to newsreaders, but if
required, I will delineate said tenuous link. :)
After looking around NZ retailers for a simple, no-frills low-cost
laptop, my wife has decided to pick up a Compaq C774TU,
http://snipurl.com/compaq774-paagal and I'm interested in opinions on
how linux-friendly it is likely to be. I was pleasantly surprised when
she agreed to my suggestion to wipe its pre-installed Vista Basic and
replace it with Linux, but I hope that there are no potential snags
that might make her regret her decision. I searched for the model here
before posting but came up blank, so any opinions on its suitability
will be welcomed.

Ran across someone suggesting Usenet4all service, and mentioning no GG
posts, in a SuSE Linux group:

I love it when a cabal comes together. OTOH, TINC... :)
