Hi,
In RFC 4642, we have:
If the TLS negotiation fails, both client and server SHOULD
immediately close the connection. Note that while continuing the
NNTP session is theoretically possible, in practice a TLS negotiation
failure often leaves the session in an indeterminate state;
therefore, interoperability can not be guaranteed.
All right. However, samples do not show how to do that. There is
only an example when the connection still goes on:

Windows Vista uses a feature called User Account Control or UAC to
limit the privileges of regular user accounts. UAC ensures that all
user accounts that are not part of the local administrators group run
with no administrative privileges. This feature is enabled by default.
However, in some situations you may want to disable it and there are
multiple ways that you can accomplish this. One method is by using
Group Policy.
To disable UAC using Group Policy:
Click Start and click Run.

Hi,
In RFC 4643, it is said for AUTHINFO:
The "USER" argument indicates that AUTHINFO USER/PASS is supported as
defined by Section 2.3 of this document. The "USER" argument MUST
NOT be advertised, and the AUTHINFO USER/PASS commands SHOULD NOT be
provided, unless a strong encryption layer (e.g., Transport Layer
Security (TLS) [NNTP-TLS]) is in use or backward compatibility
dictates otherwise.
[...]
The server MAY list the AUTHINFO capability with no arguments, which
indicates that it complies with this specification and does not
permit any authentication commands in its current state.
I do not understand the subtlety between MUST NOT and SHOULD NOT in the
first paragraph.
That is to say I understand that if USER is not advertised, AUTHINFO USER
could still be available. However, if the AUTHINFO capability has no
argument, it means that authentication is not permitted according to the
second paragraph. Therefore, AUTHINFO USER is not available.

Hi,
In RFC 2980, it is said for AUTHINFO GENERIC:
The authenticators converse using their protocol until complete. If
the authentication succeeds, the server authenticator will terminate
with a 281, and the client can continue by reissuing the command that
prompted the 380. If the authentication fails, the server will
respond with a 502.
Hmm... 380 never existed (a typo for 480 I believe).
But my question is for 502: are news servers which support the AUTHINFO
capability as described in RFC 4643 supposed to send 502 or 481 when
authentication fails for the now deprecated AUTHINFO GENERIC?

Hi.
Some who know the way of setting op inn to work with connect from
mailman lists server.
I like to setup my my inn to accept connect from lists server mailman
on inn ( readers.conf) or another config for inn, so a frind there runs
list server mailman can connect to my inn without using auth in
access.
So hes mailman just conecct and fetching news to his lists server.
So it where and how to make it to work correct.
