Most versions of news support a "checkgroups" control message that can
be used to help keep your active file in sync with the "standard"
Usenet groups. This newsgroup list is in the format expected by such
software. If you wish to process it as a checkgroups control message,
extract the newsgroup list between the marked lines below and pass it
to your checkgroups script on standard input.

A normal checkgroups control message is also posted monthly, suitable
for automated processing by news software. This posting is intended
to supplement the control message, providing the same list in a
regular news message. This may be useful for reference, or for review
