Larry Brilliant at google is leverage

Author: Michael Black
Date: Apr 23, 2008 09:16

The latest issue of "Rolling Stone" (with The Rolling
Stones on the cover) has an article about Larry Brilliant,
prompted it seems by his appointment to google's philanthropy
arm. I just glanced at it, five dollars or so seems a bit
much for one article.

Sicne he has connections at google, he is thus someone we can
try to persuade.

Larry Brilliant of course was a leading force behind The Well
back in 1985. He ran a company that developed the software that
ran there, and I seem to recall he was a co-investor in The Well.

The first time I heard about Usenet was in Byte about '83 or '84,
in an issue devoted to Unix. The second time I heard about it
was a couple of years later, in CoEvolution Quarterly (or it
might have been the Whole Earth Review by then), undoubtedly
prompted by The Well being a part of Usenet; it was the first
non-computer place I read about Usenet.

Comfort - Both genders appreciate a comfortable fit and feel. No one
wants to experience the downside of having apparel that simply does
not fit right. When you have clothes that fit as they should fit, you
are going to have a worry free day where you are confident your
clothing is keeping up with its end of the bargain.

We have a plentiful selection of newsgroups about network abuse and
related issues, but what is the best one to use? Here are excerpts from
the newsgroups' charters, with emphasis added to help make things clear.
Please refer to the full charters, URLs included here when available, if
you would like more detail.

If you want to learn more about network abuse -- what it is, what can be
done about it and just what all those acronyms mean -- Tim Skirvin has
pointers to more sources of information at:

<http://www.killfile.org/~tskirvin/nana/>

Thank you for following these recommendations. It will make these
newsgroups more useful for all involved.
