Does TB's bayesian filter work on today's spam?

Author: Al Dykes
Date: Jan 19, 2007 07:20

TB's spam filter was great when it was new but I find that these days
it is only finding a few messages. Have the spammers done an end-run
around it with their image spam and stream-of-owrds messages?

Location of message and headers panes

Author: Dylan Parry
Date: Jan 18, 2007 01:30

Hi,

I have recently started using Thunderbird in "Vertical View" as I have a
widescreen monitor and figured it would make better use of the space.
What I would like to do is swap the message and headers panes around so
that the message pane is in the middle, as opposed to the
right-hand-side. Is this possible? If so, is there an extension to do
this, or can I do it simply without any need for one?

At the moment it feels like I need to turn my head to read the messages,
which is why I'd rather have them shown in the middle of the screen :)

Cheers,

you haven't provided enough information to determine what the problem
is. Why can't you send an email? What happens when you send? Do you get
an error message? If so, what does it say? Do you have the exact same
SMTP settings in TB as you do in OE? Describe them? Where are you
putting the settings?

Get the idea. We need more info.

first, close TB. Then using your file manager, locate the mail section
of the TB profile. Inside it, you will find a bunch of *.msf files.
Once found, delete them. Now restart TB. Do things work better now?

Creating an address list in TB

Author: Xenophile
Date: Jan 14, 2007 10:19

How do you create a mailing list without typing in all the addresses?
According to the Mozilla help file, and also
http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/addressbook/#NewMailing I should
be able to select addresses from my address books and add them to a
list by drag-and-drop. But my version does not allow that. It says
"type in addresses to add them to the mailing list" and there are no
buttons for adding in addresses. I am running TB 1.5.0.9

Thanks.

Talk.origins

I can't unsubscribe. Whenever I try everything simply freezes.

Any other (of more than 15 groups) I do not have this problem with.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

  Pop from another folder

Author: Piperson
Date: Jan 10, 2007 16:49

By default, when a pop account is set up, it downloads messages from the
Inbox. On the pop server however, I may set up a filter to move certain
emails to another folder.

Is there a way to have TB download from another folder or multiple folders?
