...car lengths between them and the next car when waiting at a light?
I've been braving West End Ave traffic more than usual lately. When
people are not gridlocking intersections, they are calmly waiting in
line with enough room in front of them to park a semi.

Anyone got an answer for that one? I mean, it's not like there's a
large possibility of the car in front suddenly backing into them, or
that their own car is going to leap ahead uncontrolled into the other
guy's bumper. That extra space means 'somebody'--maybe several
somebodies--is/are going to be left at the last light...or in the middle
of the intersection. In fact, I saw someone just now stop in the middle
of the intersection...with two car lengths available ahead to get out of
it...while someone else vainly tried to make a left turn.

This just in...as I'm writing this my roommate limped in with his arm
bandaged, from a hit & run on WE (at Louise). He was walking across
Louise. A woman ran the stop sign in a white, older, compact Pontiac,
hit him...and left him lying in the street by her driver-side door
before she looked at him, gasped and sped off! He said she never hung
up her cell phone...looked her straight in the eye as he was rolling
over her windshield.

Get it straight- it's not a War, it's an Invasion.
The last officially declared war was in 1943.

Meanwhile, back in ole Virginny, the Bilderberg Group is meeting
to figure out the next plan of action:
