I can't get the other message thread to accept a reply. So this is in
response to your turkey question.

Yes, it was the same here until the early '90s when there did seem to
be a renaissance, excellent choice of words, of the species that
BFranklin thought should be our national bird and that was the sacred
bird of the Tsalagi, ganee.

I had seen two in my whole life, both flying over roads, until
Thanksgiving Day circa 1990 when I saw 13 in the field behind my
barn. Since then they have been a fairly regular and most welcome
sight. They are fascinating to watch, very orderly,
