Hi Folks,
I am posting links to two interesting articles for your
consideration. The first is by Scott Horton, a lawyer who
has interests in human rights law and laws related to armed
conflict etc. The article concerns the way that use of torture
has been sold to the American public by the Bush administration.
I found it fairly fascinating. Horton points to the TV program
24 as one such means of selling torture as a viable tool for
American government.

The second article is by a Nashvillian (sp?) who broke
into some observations after reading an article about Bush
and Bernanke declaring that there is no recession in the
the Nashville Tennessean. If nothing else, it's a pretty
funny read, though the underlying issues are quite serious.

Enjoy if you like.

Could I add 'JAG'? I mean, who watches that show, anyway? I caught a
rerun this morning and was just floored by the Administration Line
(along with the hook & sinker). I can't believe this serie
--one of the
longest running in history, AIRC--is sustained by by ratings or
commercial sponsors alone.

From the article:
"... Specifically, the following techniques were the focus of our
concern: waterboarding, long-time standing, hypothermia, sleep
deprivation in excess of two days, the use of psychotropic drugs and
the sensory deprivation/sensory overload techniques..."

I think Shakespeare--or William F. Buckley--scared his momma....
I'm guilty of the same thing...except I'm not as adept as Joseph.
