The new ultra low sulphur diesel has been available at the
pumps since around summer of last year. Ford had to stop
selling diesel pickups for the first half of the 2007 model
year, because their diesels couldn't meet the new EPA
requirements without ultra low sulphur fuel. Once the
new fuel was widely available, Ford could start selling diesel
F-250's again. The new fuel was also probably a major
contributor to the 'zero measureable emissions' printout
I was given when I took my 1985 F-250HD to the emissions
testing station, last fall.
The new lower sulphur requirement was used as an excuse
to bump the price of diesel by 50 cents or so at the pumps.
