way. But obviously the years took their toll, and this resulted in
my returning insult for insult, in spades.

It is quite interesting that you now form an alliance with a Nazi sympathizer
who calls me a Nazi in trying to hide the sympathies he has stated
over and over in AADP, without investigation of the issues here.
Blindness to one side of issues is quite typical of many abolitionists,
while some maintain the dignity of examining both sides before making
a decision. Which kind of an abolitionist are you, Jake? You need
to find yourself, or you're just an outsider here only to critique my
existence in AADP. In which case, you really admit you have no
reasonable rebuttal to my arguments in respect to the death penalty
in the U.S. You should plainly see that "Yitzhak" (AKA Desmond

You're new here... so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and expect
you to thoroughly investigate both sides of this entire issue, looking
at all the evidence I am about to offer, using the exact words and

This is a lengthy process, but if you expect to attack me, then you
need to thoroughly examine the EVIDENCE, as any jury member
would do. Don't expect this post of mine to be short, or use
sound bites with lies, as Coughlan does.

The comments from Coughlan in AADP literally make my skin crawl.
I have great respect for many abolitionists who post here, even while
I cannot agree with their viewpoint. Coughlan is quite a different
case, given that he has said that the murder of an innocent by a
"wrongly released murderer," is the "lesser of two evil" as opposed
to the execution of that murderer before being wrongly released to

Obviously a live innocent who is murdered by a "wrongly released
murderer" is less important to him than the life of the murderer.
This has nothing to do with deterrence, recidivism, possible

asserts he would trade the life of one innocent victim of murder
for the life of an already guilty murderer. He would trade the
life of his wife, for the life of that already guilty murderer. He
would trade the life of his wife, for the life of Kenneth McDuff.

Imagine that... he doesn't find it evil for the Nazi state to murder six
million innocent Jews in a few short years, but does find it evil
for the U.S. to execute a few more than a thousand proven
murderers in more than 25 years.

You do know the definition of the word "evil," don't you? It is defined
as what is "morally bad, or wrong." Not everyone's morality is the
same, but Coughlan clearly insisted he does not find the Holocaust
was "morally wrong" (evil).

Notice that here, and what follows, I offer links to his own words,
rather than making absurd, unfounded accusations meant as
"character assassination," filled with lies. At the end you will
find a list of his other comments which clearly show an affection
for Nazi doctrine. Including his claim that "Auschwitz wouldn't

You are obviously unaware of who "Yitzhak" really is. His name
is Desmond Coughlan, and he has posted under a number of other
handles. To cover up his Nazi ravings he took the name of a
Jew, in making a "great joke" about the Jews, admitting that he is
"dishonest," which makes him a Jew, insisting he wears the "yellow
star" as a victim of the Shoah. He also called himself a "Rabbi"
in his handle for some time, again making fun of the Jews. The
fact is my maternal great-grandmother was born into an orthodox
Jewish family in Krakow, Poland, but converted to Catholicism
when she married a Catholic in Poland. My maternal grandmother
was raised as a Catholic, and immigrated into the U.S., and Chicago,
my mother was reared as a Catholic, and I was baptized and
confirmed as a Catholic until I reached majority and rejected all
religions as utter ignorance of our species. I've been around the
block. 75 years old... 20 years in the U.S. military... REMF in
Vietnam for a year. 20 years as a civilian contractor to NATO,
USAFE and USAREUR, in just about every country in Europe.

While I do not consider myself Jewish, since I have never shared
in their culture, Coughlan hates me because of my support for
the Jewish people, my support for Zionism and the existence of
the State of Israel, and my blood connection to the Jews.

Coughlan has also demanded in somewhere around 50 posts that this
same poster, who posts under the handle Jigsaw1695, put a gun in
his mouth, and commit suicide. Coughlan also posted the name,
address and phone number of Jigsaw, hoping physical harm would
result. While Jigsaw is a former law enforcement officer, which
certainly places him at high risk in a newsgroup such as AADP. Is
that the method that abolitionists use to rid themselves of the
"opposition" in AADP?

Perhaps you should also know that Coughlan has ADMITTED to
cyber stalking me, posting a comment to AADP that he had paid
$300 to a private detective agency in Florida to gain my address
and phone number. His words in respect to me --

Of course I denied all of this until I had moved from Florida to
a new location which I will not reveal, because of Coughlan and
his attempts to physically harm me and my family. BTW -- I lived
in Newport, Tennessee, on seven beautiful acres for five years,
before moving to Florida. I have been retired for 14 years,
and my wife and I still have the wanderlust. We have the
financial resources to move when we wish, which is a luxury
that sadly all too few Americans have.

Now.. final question. You and he are in support of abolition... are
you both in support of cyber-stalking retentionists to give them
some kind of "punishment"? That's what Coughlan insisted was his
motivation.

Beware of making quick friends here, Jake. I am no exception,
since I do not want friends here. I have them in real life, and this
is just a hobby lark to me, consuming all too much of my time,
I do admit. I am contentious and argumentative. I have strong
opinions, and do not change them on a whim. I am quite used
to being insulted, and it means absolutely nothing to me in this
imaginary forum. There must be at least 200 posts from Coughlan
offering insults to me in the past two months, that I have simply
ignored. Too many abolitionists rely upon insults as their
only argument in objecting to the U.S. death penalty.
Coughlan on the other hand has been killfiled by just about
every ABOLITIONIST, yet he is obviously of the same
viewpoint they are. He is scum, Jake... clear scum. When
even those who are of a like mind don't like you... beware.

As long as you keep an open mind I don't care if you are an
abolitionist. You have your views, I have mine... and as long as
you don't call the U.S. death penalty "murder," we might even
see that both sides of this issue have valid points. I have never
believed there is any real winner in this issue, since it is a matter
of personal choice, and not many facts available to support one
view or the other, given that the meager facts that do exist are
usually cancelled out by facts from the other position.

Quite a few years ago I came into this group with no clear
opinion regarding the U.S. use of the death penalty, and didn't
think I'd stay more than enough to make myself a nuisance.
I was retired and had time on my hands.

I was almost hoping someone would come along to focus my
opinion in one real direction, and toward abolition, since no
one should find pleasure in supporting the killing of a human
being no matter how worthy they are of killing. I have never
found pleasure in supporting retention. What I have found
is that to me it represents a lesser evil than permitting every
murderer to spend the rest of their natural life, drooling in
their pillow, and stroking themselves in remembering the

What I did find were many abolitionists who spend most
of their time shooting themselves in the foot in an obvious
inability to articulate a reasonable POV, or to see the issue
in anything other than "black and white" absolutes. The
absolute that NO murderer can reasonably be considered
suitable for execution. Given the examples of murderers
I have seen, and given the U.S. death penalty in place at this
time, I have to reject that absolute in respect only to the
U.S. death penalty.

At this point in my life I have to reject that absolute, as my
personal opinion. It is not etched in stone or absolute terms
which could never change. Should the U.S. begin executing
those who commit rape, or some other use that I fully reject,
or should the Supreme Court rule upon a permissible death
penalty I could not rationally support, I could become an
abolitionist. But I've yet to encounter an abolitionist posting
here who admits they might change their viewpoint and become
a retentionist.

I do not engage in arguments concerning any other country's
use of the death penalty, other than obviously I find the
Islamic Sharia to be the most repulsive and detestable
use of the death penalty I can imagine, and the Chinese
use of the death penalty to be no better. In no uncertain
terms would you ever find me defending those death penalty
applications.

If you stay in alt.activism.death-penalty you will be welcomed
if you are reasonable. But you will have much to learn, little
grasshopper. And the first thing, is to not jump in with an
air of arrogance in presuming you already have the answers
to a question which has plagued this group for many years.
In truth... there are no answers. Only opinions. When it
comes to the U.S. death penalty.
