Sarah Palin and the Wasilla Church of God

"Let's begin with you, Fred Clarkson. What are you most concerned about
in Governor Palin's views?

"FREDERICK CLARKSON: Well, I'm most concerned with the point that you
raised earlier, and that is her well-documented belief that she's
living in the "end times," we're all living in the "end times," and
that her interpretation of the Book of Revelation may be driving her
public policy and particularly her foreign and military policy views.

"AMY GOODMAN: Explain what is meant by "end times."

"FREDERICK CLARKSON: Well, that means that if you take the Bible, and
you begin with Genesis and Creation and the Book of Revelation, which
describes God's plan for the end of the world, we're at the end of the
book, and that it ends in a bloody conflagration before God's people
are saved. And she and people who think like her believe them,
themselves, to be the people who are going to be saved, and the rest of
us are not looking so good.

"AMY GOODMAN: And these comments about the war being a task of God, the
Alaska pipeline, you know, praying for the companies and the people.

Y'know, as a Christian this kind of thing bothers the heck out of me.

How can someone who claims to believe in God actually think they can
**manipulate God** into doing something when humans want it to happen,
rather than on His schedule?

Isn't it awfully selfish to try to manipulate God into moving up the
Second Coming? (and condemning to Hell those who might have been
converted between when the manipulators would succeed and when God would
have returned otherwise)

It simply doesn't jibe with the theology, or the Bible, I learned...

Didn't she leave the Church of God several years ago?

She is and has been an Assembly of God member. There is a
difference. At least she's not World Wide Church of God
(Herbert W./Garner Ted Armstrong). Now that would be scary.

"Denmark is named after the lost tribe of Dan." ... Garner
Ted Armstrong
"Jews are named after the Roman god Jupiter." ... Garner Ted
Armstrong

Daddy Herbert W. kicked Garner Ted out of the church after
GT got a divorce.
