After reading the piece about the outrageous behavior of the Republican
majority in this latest do-nothing congress, I gotta hold my nose and
support him. As soon as I get a silver sharpie, my yard sign will have
an asterisk and a footnote that says, "'cause he sucks 10%% less."
The 10 worst congressman piece is pretty shocking as well:

Don't even need to see the list. If I vote at all, it'll be a straight
democratic ticket.
It's the first time I've ever voted a straight ticket, but I have just seen
all I care to of the crop of smarmballs the GOP has foisted off on this
country.
I've never cared for the "my way or the highway" form of politics, and this
bunch of crooks, liars and part-time pedophiles has just gone and raised it
to an art form. There is not a single thing they won't say to hang onto the
power they've so badly abused, so far as I'm concerned, if there's a baby
among 'em, it's out with the bathwater.
I guess y'all heard, the venerated John McCain has (jokingly, one must
assume) said he'll kill himself if the democrats take the Senate. Man, the
Baldwin brothers just claimed they'd leave the country. Of course, they
didn't, and McCain won't either, but that is a man who's allowed Bush to
just flat steamroller him AND his family, and still sucks up every chance he
gets. His integrity level is below the lowest number on the meter.
And, he's about the best they have to offer these days.

Wow. I wish I could share your unbounded optimism.
Yes, that is sarcasm but it's because I think you're not being cynical
*enough*

Oh, I'm cynical to the hilt, just thought I'd try out the sub basement
of 2nd hand optimism, as I'm tired of being pissed off. Perhaps I'll
get back on that teat tommorrow.

Well, I don't recall reading Esquire since the days of the Vargas cartoons,
but they do have a decent reputation of doing a little actual research and
thinking regarding their articles... you know, like the Washington Post USED
to do.

Yesterday, I attended a 'prayer breakfast' given by Ford supporters at
which he spoke at length. Despite my earlier negative assessment, I
found him to be articulate, engaging, enthusiastic and genuine. He may
have voted in opposition to my ideals on many occasions and he does have
a family history which tweaks my distaste...but, I was (surprisingly)
genuinely impressed.
He comes off much better in person than he does in his ads.

He voted for the war, he voted for torture, he voted against the horse
slaughter prevention act. He has an 8%% rating on the Society for Animal
Protection compassion index. Bill Frist has a 17%% rating for crying out
loud. Give me specifics as to why I should vote for him. Please, thank
you.
