I have a problem with the windows display on my PC.
Over the holidays, my oldest son and others had access to my PC. That
may be coincidental, but all I know is that after he left, the browser
windows had a new look that I can't seem to change back. I am hoping
someone here knows what this is and can advise me how to change it
back.
Here are the facts when opening a browser window:
* The windows are lacking the + - X in the upper corner.
* The right side of the window seems to be cut off - there is no scroll
bar and no way to scroll up or down a page without using the arrows.
* There is no way to move the window around by "grabbing" the top of it
with the cursor / mouse.
* There is no way to resize the window.
* The only way to shut down or minimize the window is by right-clicking
the icon in the tray or by switching tabs (when using tabs).
* I have this problem when using both Firefox and Explorer.
* I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the problem persists
* No other computers (PC or Mac) in the house have this issue.

Just a wild guess ... the window of the application is bigger than the
resolution. Can you grab the window and move it to the left? I think then
you will get back the scroll bar etc.
Talk to you later ... Hans from Germany (245 to go)

KD,
Have a look in the control panel for the display. Under Display
Properties there are a number of tabs...one for "Settings". There
should be a Screen Resolution slider. Adjust it to the native size...

I'm assuming the Window title bar is displaying but missing the min,
max, close buttons. Sounds like you may have had a browser hijack. I
believe there are registry settings that apply to all browsers and 1 of
these has been changed. I recommend scanning the system with Ad-Aware
and Spybot. If they find/fix nothing, go to Microsoft website and
search their Knowledge Base for Windows Explorer repair.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I will answer each as I address what's
recommended:
As I mentioned in my original post, I cannot grab the browser windows
and move themor resize them. Once they are open, all I can do is
minimize or close them them from the tray.

Not sure about this key on windows. All I know is that I can't grab
the window and move it like normal.

My son is an engineer but not a computer engineer / nerd. Meaning he
probably didn't install any computer geek stuff but is probably smart
enough not to pull any sh*t with it either. I have not yet talked to
him about this -- but if I can't solve the problem soon, I will call
him and ask if he did anything.

One of the first things I checked was the control panel / appearance
and themes, and nothing there seemed to fix the problem. However,
after reading your suggestion, I went back to double check.
Unfortunately, no change...
Thanks again and I'm still looking for possible fixes...
