Tenant was washing windows on the rental house when he ran into a nest.
I didn't have any bug spray, but did have a large can of carb cleaner.
I squirted that stuff up there and it knocked 'em down faster than
anything else I've ever used.

Been there! As a kid I ran into one of those. I thought I'd be cute
and plug the hole closed with my heel. I missed. As they boiled
up--being a kid--I had the thought that I should be counting them. Then
first one found me, and all thoughts of counting fled....
I ran, howling, until I'd shed myself of most of them. Good thing I
don't have any particular sensitivity to bee venom, because I was stung
at least 20 times.
