Subject: Operation "we Care" for Hurricane Gustav Evacuees in Nashville
Importance: High
Dear Friends & Family:
Three years ago New Orleans and the entire gulf coast was devastated by
Hurricane Katrina. As we watched the unbelievable events that unfolded
before our eyes, we knew that there must be some way to help those in such
great need. Through a massive email and word of mouth effort, we were able
to collect supplies-food, water, diapers, clothing, toys, and many other
items---enough to fill a semi trailer. We delivered the trailer filled with
supplies to the shelter at Louisiana State University.
As Bonnie and I watched with anticipation yesterday the events unfolding, we
knew that another call to action was needed. This time, we want to help the
2000+ evacuees who are being sheltered here in Nashville & Middle Tennessee.
Bonnie has been in touch with the Red Cross to find out what is needed and
how to get the supplies to them. Here is what is needed:
Diapers
Wipes
New Towels
Unopened Snacks
Children's Toys
Coloring Books & Crayons
Pillows
Blankets
These people and their families need our help. They are away from their
homes-possibly for the second or third time. We want to be there for them
and show them that we care about them and are concerned about their
well-being.
Bonnie will be organizing this drive. We will collect all the items below at
either our house or my office, and then make arrangements to have them
transported to the Red Cross for distribution to the shelters here. We hope
you will reach deep into your compassion and love for your fellow man and
together with so many, help these temporarily (we hope) homeless families.
You can drop off your items at one of two places:
Our home: 404 West Hillwood Drive Nashville TN 37205 Phone 352-1160
or 390-8442 Cell (You can leave your items on the front porch or drive
around to the left side of the house and put them in the garage.

these families. If you are unable to bring supplies by, please go to the Red
Cross Website and make a donation---or to any of the organizations who are
providing aid to hurricane victims.
