As opposed to teachers and staff NOT carrying guns in school
at Columbine and Virginia Tech. Sane Earth, right, Gregg?
What is sane about leaving children exposed to the insane of
the earth? The article stated that the nearest law
enforcement is 30 minutes away. That's really plays into a
tag line I've seen, "When seconds count, the police are only
minutes away." Cold comfort, that.
Even here in Nashville, 10 minutes is the average response
time for a 911 call (on a really good day, that is). How
much body heat is a small child going to lose in 10 minutes.
Even driving at the speed limit (so as to not attract undue
attention), the doer can be 3-5 miles from the scene before
the first responder arrives. Thirty minutes in rural Texas
at highway speeds, the perp could be 20-30 miles from the
scene.
I think your concept of the "Wild" West comes from penny
dreadfuls, B-movies, and TV, not from historic fact. Note
that almost all of the bad guys in the "Wild" West came to
the bad end they deserved. Jesse James, the Cole brothers,
James Wesley Harding were brought down either by the law,
their own, or nameless citizen heroes.
Look at the results of perditions similar to yours in the
cases of Morton Grove, IL and Kennesaw, GA and the "lax"
carry law in Florida and the "no carry" laws in Illinois.
