Misleading marketing mailings

Author: Doug Smith W9WI

For some reason I've been madder than usual about misleading direct
marketing tactics. So when I received an unmarked Manila envelope
addressed to "Account Holder" - containing an ad for a Clarksville Nissan
dealer - well, it spurred the attached missives:

====================================

Mathews Nissan
185 Highway 76
Clarksville, TN 37043

Sirs/Ma'ams;

I'm enclosing a copy of a letter I sent to Nissan Consumer Affairs in Franklin. Along with the letter, I sent them the advertising mailing you sent to my home yesterday. Needless to say, I am not pleased. I find this kind of mailing deceitful, misleading, and a selfish attempt to trick consumers into wasting their time opening something they would have discarded if you'd been honest about the contents.

I am in fact in the market for a car. However, I will not be buying it from a dealer that provides a blatant display of dishonesty before I even come within ten miles of their lot.

You really need to rethink your marketing tactics.

Sincerely,

====================================

I just pitched mine in the trash and saved my limited amount of anger for
better things.
