| As incredible as it sounds, the question was recently posed regarding what
| IS a "living wage."
|
| Seems rather descriptive to me... a wage you can live on.
How many dollars a year is that? My wife and I could live on $30,000.00 a
year without a problem. My son and his family needs $150,000.00 a year to
live on. It needs to be defined in something other than subjective terms if
you are going to use it.
|
| Then I read a story today online regarding Minnesota's cute litle
republican
| congresswoman, Michele Bachmann.
|
| She was defending the current plan to stimulate the economy by giving tax
| breaks...

I don't think that is a "neocon" position. The neocon agenda is/was
specifically focussed on foreign policy and pretty much ignores
domestic policy. As such, though Bush is a convenient tool, the most
highly placed true neocon is Dick Cheney. Now I grant you that what
the Bush admin has done in the way of currency manipulation has had
a dramatic effect on the everyday life of ordinary folks...that's
really only a side effect.

It's really more the Calvinistic ethic that everybody who's in trouble
deserves to be in trouble.
Calvin believed that as a result of Predestination poor people were
poor as punishment from God, and by being poor they had been marked by
God for their flaws, and should be outcast from society for their
failings.

Maybe so, but it's a part of the same big cauldron, far as I'm concerned.
Put the monkeys in charge of the zoo, and chaos will result.

If you really want to go out of your way to give poor people
a break, advocate the abolition of the Fed. After all, it is the
devaluation of the currency that makes $18,000 a year a poverty
line annual income. It's not only the poor but also the rapidly
shrinking middle class that are feeling the crunch. The Fed enables
administrations like the Bush II junta to play war while screwing
the economic hopes of generations of people in this country. Remove
the power of counterfeiting from the feral government and this
nonsense would stop.
