Maury Davis was arrested for first-degree murder at age 18. Following
his trial and conviction, he served eight and one-half years in the
Texas Department of Corrections. During his incarceration, Davis found
his Savior in Jesus Christ and led a revival among his fellow prisoners.

Following his unexpected release from prison, Davis served on the
pastoral staff of Calvary Temple in Irving, Texas, under the leadership
of Dr. J. Don George where he served as youth pastor. There he met and
married his wife Gail.

After five years at Calvary Temple, Davis answered the call to
full-time evangelism and traveled across the United States preaching at
churches, youth camps, and Bible schools and speaking to teens in
public schools.

In 1991, after preaching one Sunday at the 250-member Cornerstone
Church in Madison, Tennessee, Davis was offered the position of senior
pastor. He accepted that appointment and has led Cornerstone to its
current average attendance of more than 2,000 people. He also serves as
an Executive Presbyter of the Tennessee District Council of the
Assemblies of God.

(yadayada pagan roots yada) If it was an all-flavoured card, why not
use all flavours? But if it was a *Christmas* card, Christmas, one day
of the year, is a Christian remembrance of Christ's birth. Why would
one want to push the envelope by doing what Bredesen did, especially
with political tensions what they are now? Stupid on his part IMO.
What's he planning for Easter?

Gee, just in time for me to write my property tax check to pay for
*Mayor* Bredesen's little gifts that keep givin
--to wealthy
businessmen. What a jerk.

It wasn't pushing the envelope by any measure of it. He shouldn't have
to judge the artwork on his card by how somebody might misappropriate
it.

I still don't get it. Nothing offensive whatsoever.

Perhaps something pagan like an Easter bunny or painted eggs. Now
that's blatantly not Christian, but it'll be overlooked.

Sounds like you're just like the murderer-pastor, digging for something
to get upset about. Have your differences with Phil, fine by me, just
fight real battles, not imaginary ones.

That would be secular. Fine. Not an analogy to this situation of
infusing one religion into the remembrances of another. Face it,
Muslims have in very recent times been known to cut off heads of
Christians if they didn't *convert.* Why bring up the thought of such,
why shove the notion in people's faces during a religious holiday
season? It was simply unnecessary. Besides, if he hadn't made a deal
of it, folks would have probably thought it was an artist's rendering
of Mary.

I resent that and said nothing to deserve such a statement.

Think again....

"The Pagan origins of the Easter Bunny

Have you ever wondered where the celebration of the Christian holiday
celebrating the resurrection of Christ acquired its unusual name and odd
symbols of colored eggs and rabbits?

If you will note, that is exactly what I did in commenting about his
actions as mayor that have saddled the elderly for the rest of their
lives with taxes for unnecessary projects that will never benefit them
in any way whatsoever. That's real. Real' despicable.

And, I know nothing of the preacher in this conflict, but I sure wish
all persons convicted of such crimes would make new, positive lives for
themselves. Saul to Paul. I heard a person note today that "all saved
persons have a past and all sinners have a future."

Because it is happening, fc. It is current news. What would you think
if a gang left a Billy Graham Crusade and picked up nonChristians, said
convert, and held them under the baptismal water until they drowned? I
would be outraged and would expect the leaders of the religion to be
adamant and demonstrative in decrying the practice. I would think
about it when I thought of Christians.

I am very close with some Muslims, frequent guests in my home. That
has nothing to do with the fact that this practice is being carried out
now in the new millennium and that *there are those who feel very
threatened by it.* Why is there not *politically correct* sensitivity
for their feelings?
