Halloween 2006

When my kids were small I drug them out on some really cold and wet
Halloween nights for trick or treat. Fighting our way through dark
yards and hoping they don't fall off some porch or trip on something in
the dark.

Cool development going to the mall instead where they have comfortably
chairs and couches and generous merchants furnish the treats..
Here are some pics from Rivergate last night.

Wish the crowds over here in east Nashville had gone there instead. I'm
fairly close to five points and the Lockeland School. People come from
out of county and from all over the city to trick or treat 'round here.
It used to be just a smattering, but has gotten out of control the past
couple years.

I was in the middle of Sylvan Park about 7:30 and the streets were
teeming with kids, but almost all of them were with at least two adults.

And everybody was on foot!

And then there are the rural areas where there are no children. They
left when the schools left. Those who are here attend the Trunk or
Treat activities that the churches sponsor to pretend they don't
participate in the eVile holiday.

Metro schools have climbed back to the point that parents out here will
actually send their children to the elementary school K-4, but then, as
a man I was speaking with just last week said he was going...
