Boy, I'll Sleep Better tonight!

Just the two biggest such stories this week involving those who protect and
serve.

In Florida a female deputy has essentially been fired after she knocked a
parapalegic out of his wheel chair in the booking office because he would
not stand up when she ordered him to.

I mean, imagine the cheek it takes to refuse to obey a lawful order and do
precisely what your legs will not allow you to do.

In Honolulu, Airport Security, DHS and ICE personnel have bought themselves
a shitstorm of well-deserved bad publicity.

Lady from American Samoa, her 14-day-old baby and a nurse were traveling to
Honolulu for an emergency heart operation on the infant when, for reasons
I've yet to read in any of the stories online about this, they were detained
in a locked airport room.

The baby died.

The lawsuit is pending.

Oh, American Samoa is a US Territory.

Oh, ICE now freely admits that it occasionally detains US citizens when it
feels it reasonable (usually, they claim, because of conflicting
statements). But, they say it's rare.

Saw the video of the paraplegic--it just got caught this time. We have
an authority *cult*ure in the US, no doubt. I probably mentioned that
I got a knock on my door a couple years back and was confronted with
five cops holding chains intended for me. Mistaken identity. When
asked, they had no clue why they were to arrest me. I made them radio
in, as I don't like to be led off in chains not knowing why.
Accusation made no sense, didn't even know the person--but tons of
false crap was radioed in. Left my house in chains for the neighbors
to see.

-0-

And nobody will ever make the exoneration anywhere near as public as the
arrest.

It's not the first mistake like the two I commented on or your story here,
and it won't be the last.

Oh, and BTW, if the Muppet Man decides to reply...well, somebody may
need to alert me...or not, cause I don't read its posts anymore.

How true... how true.

Thing is, I've been a Clemens fan since I first got to see him pitching for
the Longhorns. You could tell even then he was an intimidating force on the
mound and I easily understood there's no middle ground with him... it's love
him or loathe him.

I can't really determine WHO is telling the truth here. Part of me thinks
since he's put himself at risk of jail time for perjury by lying under oath
that he just might be telling the truth.

On the other hand, the evidence does look pretty damning, in spite of the
smarmyness of his former friend and trainer who's already been shown to be
lying on a few occasions.

Doesn't much matter, as Clemens is right... no matter the outcome, his
reputation is now pretty much destroyed.
