Following in Bill Maher's footsteps, former President Bill Clinton told
off some 9/11 truthers that were heckling him during a 50-minute speech
he was giving at a fundraiser for his wife in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
Tuesday.
Sadly, he didn't say anything about Rosie O'Donnell.
However, as reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, what the former
President did say -- as shouts came from the crowd about 9/11 being an
inside job -- was rather delicious (video available here, emphasis
added, h/t NB reader Don Deskins):
Early in his speech, Clinton was sporadically heckled. One heckler
shouted that 9/11 was a fraud, and Clinton bristled. "No, it wasn't a
fraud. I'll be glad to talk about it if you'll shut up and let me talk."
The heckling continued, and he told another heckler "these people did
not come here to hear you speak. If you don't have any self-control, we
can deal with that."
When a third called 9/11 an "inside job," Clinton snapped back "How dare
you? I live in New York, and I know who did that. You guys have got to
be careful, or you're going to give Minnesota a bad reputation."

TB's just thrilled that people got silenced, which amounts to a minor
orgasm in his authoritarian dream world. If Clinton had had a
moustache--he'd probably have thrown up as well, due to the
overwhelming stimulation.
Seriously, though--I'm still unsatisfied with the failure of our
government on that day--we failed to scramble fighters and intercept
hijacked planes...four times in a row. Four grievous failures in a
row...is deliberate. I think Clinton understands that that day's
tragedy was completely preventabl
--but allowed to happen, and is
scared shitless to discuss it.
People like TB, on the other hand, cheer 9/11--because it's the day
that made everybody poopy-pants enough to submit to this outrageously
over-reaching gub'mint.

What you seem to be overlooking is that our air defense
system was set up to deal with threats that were inbound
from other countries, not threats that were launched from
inside our borders. Also, the 'cold war' was over, so
those defenses were on a much lower alert status than
they had been in earlier years.

That is the 64 dollar question. Since we never faced a situation like
that in our history, there could be no prescribed procedures to deal
with it. My experience with the military is that it does things by the
book, it doesn't generally make things up as it goes along.
That's left to Washington.

Yeah--I wasn't suggesting shoot-downs, just wondering why the planes
weren't escorted as per NORAD protocol. Those squadrons at Andrews can
scramble in minutes--because they're ready for a situation just like
9/11.
