The preceding is a link to a cartoon. You may follow it or not, it's
your choice. I only posted it because 1) I find it amusing and 2) it
is in some way offensive to one or more persons in nash.gen. I will
not describe the comic in this paragraph, this serves only to
exacerbate Eve's dyslexia.

They said they wouldn't spit, but they didn't anything about other
bodily functions.

Dunno about that but he clearly has no difficult holding conflicting
opinions, does he?

Thinking about the subject a bit more, there was another guy (came
here from the northeast - Pennsylvania? - looking for work) who
blurted out that there was absolutely no reason for civilians to own
'military style weapons', when a couple of other people were talking
about the Assault Weapon Ban (which was still in effect, at the time).
He also had voiced other opinions in support of various gun control
laws, indicating that 'civilians' should have to comply with certain
restrictions.

WRT actually having a demonstrable, general effect. Your cases in
point are high-profile example where the law was used (and possibly
mis-used), but it's the low profile owners who are never caught that
make it window dressing, in my opinion.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. If an individual doesn't own a gun,
and only sees that the gun control laws are doing very little, or nothing,
to inhibit gun related crimes, they might see gun control laws as being
window dressing.
